Our CCES community welcomes you. I trust that you will be impressed with the quality of the school: its people, programs, and plant. The campus is beautiful, its 72 acres integrating the natural gifts of the landscape with classroom buildings and athletic facilities, and a centrally located chapel that provides the fulcrum for community life. Continuity and commitment to professional growth characterize the faculty, who are dedicated to students beyond the formal confines of the program, and a carefully coordinated P-12 curriculum ensuring seamless continuity and opportunities for making the most of each child’s ability. Students and teachers alike openly enjoy learning and strive to make the most of every day.

The quality that stands out at CCES is the development of habits of life that pay huge dividends after graduation. Habits emerge out of the daily routines. Our students acquire academic, ethical, spiritual, and social and work habits that persist for a lifetime.

When you step foot on our campus, you will encounter happy people—students, teachers, staff, and parents. The happiness quotient at the school results from great relationships and a pervasive feeling of success. Every student finds bountiful opportunities for achievement at CCES. Academics, arts, athletics, community service, and spiritual life engage multitudes of students. Students often arrive early in the morning and leave after a ballgame or a rehearsal in the evening, feeling a deep sense of accomplishment and personal fulfillment.

Evidence of accomplishment abounds. Eighty-five percent of our 192 Advanced Placement scores for 2010 were 3 or better. All 16 of our IB Diploma candidates earned full diploma recognition. The Upper School staged three major theatrical performances in 2009-10: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cyrano de Bergerac, and South Pacific, all stunningly performed. The Middle School produced Beauty and the Beast to SRO audiences and wild applause. A cast of over 100 middle-schoolers attests to the success of the program.

On the athletic front, CCES earned the South Carolina Director’s Cup for most points in sports competition in Class 1A in the South Carolina High School Athletic League for the 19th straight year, earning four state championships, with a second successive state championship in girls’ basketball, a third straight in girls’ tennis, and a tenth straight in boys’ varsity soccer, tying a national record. Add service learning experiences at every level of the school and a vigorous and inclusive spiritual life and you have an ideal recipe for a great school.

I look forward to meeting you when you visit our beautiful campus and welcome calls or correspondence through any medium.

Yours very truly,
