Sophomore Emily Snow will host an art show and
exhibit entitled "A Journey of Art: Family History as Inspiration
and Education" on Wednesday, November 15, from 6:00 - 8:00
p.m. in the Upper School Art Gallery. Her exhibit will be on display
from November 13 - 17.
The exhibit is part of her IB Middle Years Program (MYP) Personal
Project, a required, yearlong, mentored project completed by all
tenth-graders to demonstrate their abilities as independent learners,
thinkers, communicators, and risk-takers.
Ms. Snow describes her project as a "walk through art history
from 1910-2006." She explains, "Inspired by many generations
of female artists in my family, I decided to pursue my love of painting.
Under the guidance of my grandmother, an artist, I created a portfolio
of my paintings. I also traced the history of art in my family dating
back five generations."
Her Personal Project is mentored by Middle School art teacher Alice
Ballard.
