The
National High School Tennis All-American Foundation has announced
its selection of Christ Church Episcopal School senior Will
Guzick as National High School Three Time Tennis All-American.
He is the first athlete in the history of the school to be named
a Three Time All-American.
All-American
recognition is based on high school tennis team performance and
United States Tennis Association (USTA) national ranking. Forty
(40) boys across the country receive this distinctive recognition
each year.
Guzick,
Captain and MVP of the CCES Varsity Boys Tennis Team, has played
varsity tennis on six CCES State Championship teams since the seventh
grade; he recently led the 2007 team to its eighth consecutive championship
under Coach Bobby Austell. In addition, Guzick
has won three National USTA Championships.
Previously
named “Mr. High School Tennis” for South Carolina and
“Mr. Tennis” by the S.C. division of USTA, Guzick has
posted USTA rankings of #1 in S.C., top 5 in the South, and top
20 nationally.
A National
Merit Scholarship winner and Palmetto Fellow, Guzick also recently
won a United States Senate Youth Program Scholarship. In all, this
outstanding scholar-athlete has attracted more than half a million
dollars in scholarship offers from schools nationally. He plans
to continue his tennis and academic careers at Harvard University
in the fall.
