She is the first CCES girls basketball player to win an athletic scholarship
to a Division I university.
The first female basketball athlete to score 1,000 points.
And the first CCES student, male or female, to be selected to the All-Star
Classic team.
At a brief ceremony in front of the athletic trophy cases in the Upper
School, Susan Troutman signed a Letter of Intent to play
basketball for nearby Furman University. She was surrounded by her family,
coaches, and CCES administrators.
A TV cameraman from WYFF-4 filmed the occasion and interviewed the young
athlete for the evening news.
Ms. Troutman joins a long line of CCES athletes who have won athletic
scholarships over the years.
Following the ceremony, friends and family enjoyed a brief reception in
Ms. Troutman's honor.
Congratulations to an outstanding scholar-athlete. We'll be following
her athletic career next year at Furman University with interest.
