"Genuinely compassionate. Eternally uplifting and positive."

These are some of the words that Virginia Cain '06 used to describe Story Cosgrove, who was selected as this year's recipient of the Epiphany Scholar Award. The award was presented by The Rev. Dr. Robert S. Dannals, who noted that the standing ovation given by the student body was a clear indication of the impact Story has had on the lives of his fellow students.

The Epiphany Scholarship was established in 1991 to honor a student who exemplifies commitment to Christian values through worship, sensitivity and outreach to others, personal manifestation of love of God and God's people in his or her daily life at school, at church, and within the school community. The scholarship carries with it a monetary award.

Story's family and church pastor attended the chapel, staying out of sight until his name was announced. His sister Lace, who won the award in 2002, drove from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, in order to attend the ceremony.

Senior Chaplain Richard Grimball noted that Story "reaches out to people not only in this school but also at his church and in the community." A youth minister at Story's church calls Story "a gifted mentor who leads with grace and humility."

Story is also a leader at CCES, serving as Vice President of the Student body, Captain of the varsity football team, and as a member of the Vestry, a student board that assists with the planning and running of chapels.

In her praise for her classmate, Ms. Cain remarked that "Story insists on seeing the good in every person as well, refusing to give up on even the most negative among us....He constantly looks for ways to help others and spread God's love. I can think of no other person that deserves this more than you, Story."
