There are not many schools in South Carolina that can make the bold claim of offering a world-class education.Christ Church Episcopal School is one that can. CCES students consistently outscore national SAT and AP averages, and our International Baccalaureate Diploma program pass rate regularly exceeds both the national and world pass rates (see CCES by the Numbers). Recognizing that our students compete for coveted admission spots in colleges and universities across the country, and that they will eventually compete for jobs in a global economy, CCES lays a strong foundation for lifelong success.
Growing in Competence and Confidence
Our curriculum is rigorous and the environment at CCES is supportive. Students grow in competence and confidence through such independent-learning assignments as the Sophomore Project, the Senior Thesis, and the IB Extended Essay, all of which are individually mentored by a faculty member. International learning opportunities have taken students to the Galapagos Islands, China, France, Spain, Japan, and the rain forests of Costa Rica, to name a few. Students also benefit from an extraordinary college guidance program that offers sustained, one-on-one college counseling to every student.
Leadership opportunities abound through such student programs as Model United Nations, Youth in Government, and other clubs and activities. A vibrant arts program that features studio and performing arts nurtures our students’ aesthetic senses and creative talents. A majority of the Upper School’s students participate in the school’s athletic program, which fields 45 teams and, for the past 20 consecutive years, has been ranked the number one Class A athletic program in South Carolina.
Developing Students of Integrity
CCES recognizes that success is empty without character, and the school places great emphasis on developing students of integrity as well as accomplishment. An Honor Code and weekly chapel services set the tone for the school environment, and service learning is an integral part of a CCES education. The commitment to service finds our students giving back to the greater Greenville area and to places even farther away, when students and teachers embark on their annual summer mission trip to Ecuador.
At the CCES Upper School, your child will enjoy every opportunity to excel and grow—whether in academics, athletics, the arts, or service. I invite you to explore with us the difference a world-class CCES education will make in your child’s future.
