"Probably
the best gift that I have come to appreciate after a long period
of time is the wonderful gift the school gave me with regards to
my spiritual development."
There is no question that CCES gave me many positive experiences
to draw upon to encourage development mentally, physically and spiritually.
CCES also provided an encouraging environment where real world leadership
principles could be taught and applied in later life.
Peers,
teachers and parents encouraged me academically and challenged me
to exceed my expectations. Academic accountability to that group
optimized my potential. Teachers would always take the time to make
sure average students like myself were recognized for their contributions
that they could make to the class. This gave me encouragement and
confidence in myself throughout my CCES experience.
From
a physical perspective CCES gave me the opportunity to grow in many
ways. It gave me a challenging environment to grow, and memories
that bound us together for life through common experiences. Participating
in sports provided confidence and drove home the meaning of how
dedication, commitment, hard work, communication and teamwork could
produce winners. Winning the State Championship in Football in '78
was the result of those teachings and a commitment to excellence.
It was a lifelong binding experience that forever shaped us and
assisted us in real- life work experiences.
Probably
the best gift that I have come to appreciate after a long period
of time is the wonderful gift the school gave me with regards to
my spiritual development. The long marinade of love, mutual respect,
and teachings of Christ have serve me so well. Christ gives us all
special gifts to enable us to contribute to society, and CCES helped
bring the gifts I could contribute to the forefront every day.
The
sense of community that existed at CCES in the 70s made it a special
place, as we emphasized academics, sports, and Christ equally.
That
experience made CCES a great choice for my kids as well, and that
spirit still continues today! My oldest son, Austin, is in 5th grade
and has Mrs. Ginny Tate as his homeroom advisor.
He also has Mr. Chris Hearon for Spanish. How great
is that!
My
daughter, Bridget, is in the 3rd grade with Mrs. Martha
Wrenn as a teacher. We are blessed indeed by a well rounded
learning environment that encourages each student's gifts to be
developed for tomorrow's leaders.
