This summer three CCES students spent two weeks in Japan as a part of the 14th annual cultural exchange between CCES and the Rikkyo (St. Paul) School, located in Tokyo. Students from the Rikkyo School visited CCES in April.

Upper School Technology teacher Saba Alavi complimented the rising eighth graders, saying "Our students were just absolutely great! I absolutely enjoyed the trip with them." Traveling with such model students was especially helpful during a frustrating seven-hour delay that occurred while waiting for their flight out of Tokyo. "The kids really kept me sane" during the wait, said Ms. Alavi.

She was equally impressed with the speech that our students made to the students of the Rikkyo School before the farewell party given for them on the last night of the trip.

In the speech they thanked their host families and talked about the differences they saw between the United States and Japan. The CCES group was able to spend several days touring Japan after visiting the school.

The Japanese exchange program, now a CCES tradition, is one of many international experiences available to our students. The Rikkyo School exchange provides a special opportunity for our Middle School students to experience the world and learn about Japanese culture.
