In her conceptual physics classes Middle School science teacher Kimberly Morgan teaches her eighth-grade students that a body in motion tends to stay in motion.

She is one of those bodies.

So when the USA Cycling National Championships were held in Greenville over the Labor Day weekend, Kimberly was in constant motion as she took charge as Head Volunteer Coordinator for the races for the second consecutive year.

Her own adrenaline got quite a workout as she raced around to pick up more than 450 sandwiches from Subway for the volunteers, and as she placed more than 250 course marshals all along both race routes to ensure safety for the racers and the viewing public.

Working with city and county police officials, she helped make sure that all intersections and small roads were blocked for the races. She also acted as a liaison with such corporate sponsors as GE Energy and Fluor Corp., coordinating opportunities for their employees to serve the community during these events.

Clearly, Kimberly loves the races, and she loves being involved. “During the races,” she told us, “expos were held and downtown was in the festival spirit! It was a fabulous weekend for Greenville, as over 85,000 people came out to watch the Cycling Championships.”
