Seventh grade students showed a lot of heart during their science class on
Tuesday, February 13.

Having just completed their study of the circulatory system, the students
dissected pig hearts to get a first-hand look at the different components of the
heart. During the dissection, students identified the four chambers, the aorta,
the pulmonary arteries, and the mitral and tricuspid valves.

Current parent Dr. Angie Millon was on hand to assist.

To prepare for the project, the students spent the previous day working on an
online dissection and labeling diagrams.

But there's no substitute for the real thing, and one day before Valentine's
Day, these students gained a new perspective on hearts!
