Our goal is to teach campers positive values modeled both in athletics and academics. During Athletes and Authors Summer Academy, campers participate in a variety of sports activities and language arts instruction. They play soccer, flag football, lacrosse, basketball, and more! Every day, they also read, write, and discuss the “daily value” to gain a better understanding of how it can help campers be more successful. Each week there is one field trip and one guest speaker. Each camper receives a camp tee shirt, and all equipment and basic supplies are provided. More detailed information about Athletes and Authors Summer Academy can be found on our website, www.cces.org/sehome.

The Athletes and Authors Summer Academy curriculum is guided by ten core principles:

Self-Discipline
Integrity
Enthusiasm
Perseverance
Confidence
Respect
Sportsmanship
Tolerance
Communication
Teamwork

“My favorite thing about what we did... was how we went over a broad area of different sports. From football to lacrosse to soccer and even ultimate frisbee, we went over each game in depth. Academically, we learned about what we can do to better ourselves in the academic and athletic fields. These values included perseverance and self-discipline. Socially, I made friends that I didn't even know during the school year. Athletes and Authors was a fun camp and I'm happy to say I'll be back next year.”
