WELCOME

If you are looking for an exciting, truly unique summer experience, you will love our new 2008 programs. Each summer hundreds of youngsters, teenagers and adults come to the CCES campus to “catch the excitement” of learning in a fun atmosphere. At CCES Summer Encounters we bring in program directors from across the nation. Your child can learn drums from a founder of the Marshall Tucker Band, sing Broadway music with a Grammy-nominated singer, dye and weave wool with a practicing fiber artist, learn to play the harmonica from a New York performer, and learn the art and science of creating video games from a premier Silicon Valley institute. CCES teachers also bring their knowledge, expertise, and talents to the community by serving as Summer Encounters instructors in our state-of-the-art facilities. Not only have we added many new offerings to our lineup of summer favorites—get ready for cartooning, cooking classes, and modeling with Millie Lewis, to name a few—we also offer you the ability to customize your child’s schedule week after week. With our new scheduling options, you can design a summer camp experience that will be as personalized as your child’s special interests! Here’s how:

• We offer programming for your child from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Our early and late-stay opportunities provide
you with the widest range of options in creating your child’s summer schedule.

• We divide our program activities into a Morning Session, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., and our Afternoon Session
from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. You can sign your child up for one or both of these sessions. A few of our programs will
run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., so please check the registration page to confirm a program’s time.

• From 12 p.m. – 1 p. m., we have a lunch break in which your child will continue to be supervised. In fact, your
children are under adult supervision from the moment they arrive on campus to the moment you pick them up
at the end of the day.

• For our younger age groups, we typically offer two or more program options during each session. So, for
example, your fourth-grader might want to “hike and bike” in the morning and try some Mad Science in the
afternoon. Or maybe drum camp in the morning and drama
in the afternoon. And we design our activities for age-specific
groups. Even in classes that attract children of varying ages, we
divide them into smaller groups with their own counselors and
activities.

So, whether you are a Summer Encounters “regular,” or this is your first experience with us, we look forward to welcoming you this summer to our campus. Come—and catch the excitement!
