Summer sports camps at CCES are a fun way to improve sports skills, learn a new sport, or just have fun during the summer. From archery to volleyball, kickball to tumbling, CCES offers a wide variety of athletic camps, many taught by our own qualified Lower and Upper School coaches. ArcheryJuly 15 19 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising 4 8 $130 Coach: Bo Aughtry, Sportsman and Archery Enthusiast With all the Hunger Games hoopla, campers can now experience the skills of Catniss! Archery is a unique and challenging sport. It requires mental and physical strengths. During this fantastic week, beginners will learn basic techniques in bow holding, shooting, aiming, and safety. There will be lots of target practice on campus and a field trip to a range at the end of the week. All equipment is provided. Backyard Flag FootballJune 17 21 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising 2 5 $130 Coaches: Eric Guth, CCES Lower School Physical Education Teacher, and Gary Guth, CCES Lower School Physical Education Teacher and former JV football coach Join the huddle and have a blast as we play flag and tag football! Campers will learn skills, positions, plays, and have fun in this safe, no-tackle, low-contact football camp. This camp is designed for beginners and those players with experience, as the coaches will focus on building individual skills in passing, running, blocking, and learning plays. Baseball Mini-CavsJune 10 14 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising K5 5 $130 Coach: Michael Fox, CCES Head Baseball Coach Join us for a week on the diamond as we learn the fundamentals of baseball. By practicing the basics of hitting, throwing, fielding, bunting, and running the bases, players will develop the necessary skills to become the next young baseball star. Understanding the characteristics of a team and fostering strong self-esteem will also be important aspects of this action-packed camp. Participants should bring their own gloves. If players have bats or protective gear, please bring those as well. We hope to see you at home plate! Basketball AcademyJune 10 14 9 a.m. 4 p.m. Rising 6 9 $235 Coaches: Toni Leopard, CCES Girls Varsity Basketball Coach Sally Pielou, CCES Girls Middle School Basketball Coach This camp is designed for players who want to improve their individual fundamentals and team skills. Specific areas of concentration will be ball handling, shooting, one-on-one skills, perimeter player moves, player-to-player defense, transition offense, and transition defense. All levels are welcome as players are divided based on skill level. Campers receive a free basketball and Cavalier basketball t-shirt. Basketball: Hoops TroopsJune 24 28 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising K5 5 $130 Coaches: Kimberly Morgan, CCES Middle School Teacher Assisted by CCES Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball Team Members Come learn and have fun at the same time! This camp includes instruction in basic basketball skills, including passing, dribbling, shooting, and team-building plays. Participants will work on the fundamentals while also improving skills they already possess. Campers will be divided by age and skill level. All participants need to wear proper athletic clothing and shoes. Cheerleading CampJuly 8 12 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising K5 5 $130 Coaches: Alexis Hinton, CCES Varsity Cheerleading Coach, and Varsity Cheerleaders Get ready for some CCES Spirit! Back by popular demand, CCES Varsity Cheerleaders lead this week of cheerleading fun. Campers will be divided into small groups based on age, and each group will have its own counselors. Each day will be filled with cheering, dancing, tumbling, stunts, jumps, crafts, and more. On Friday, campers will put on a special pep rally for friends and family. Campers may also join the cheerleading squad on the field for a fall CCES football game! Come join us and catch the CCES cheerleading excitement! Diamond SportsJuly 8 12 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising 2 5 $130 Coaches: Eric Guth, CCES Lower School Physical Education Teacher, and Gary Guth, CCES Lower School Physical Education Teacher This whole week will revolve around the diamond...the baseball diamond that is! Boys and girls who join will play a variety of sports using the softball field and baseball field, including kickball, baseball, and softball. Campers will also enjoy special PE games like pickle, stealing second, and home run derby. Dont miss this week of fun and team sport skill development. Disc GolfJuly 22 26 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising 4 8 $130 Coaches: Eric Guth, CCES Lower School Physical Education Teacher, and Gary Guth, CCES Lower School Physical Education Teacher This week is filled with fun and adventure! On Monday campers will learn the basics of disc golf and practice their throwing skills on the CCES campus course. Each day, for the rest of the week, we will visit a different local disc golf course for games and skill practice. All equipment is provided. FencingJuly 15 19 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Rising 3 8 $130 Coach: Vince DiCarlo of Foothills Fencing Academy Campers will love this intriguing sport! Not only will they learn the basic techniques of fencing, but they will also learn all the related terminology. Participants will be provided with a foil (beginner sword) and all safety gear such as breast plates, helmets, and jackets. Drills in technique, proper form, and etiquette will build confidence in campers and tournament style matches will be a blast! FootballJune 24 28 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising 5 8 $130 Coaches: Derik White, CCES Head JV Football Coach, and CCES Varsity Football Players Come get your game on during this camp designed to teach valuable offensive and defensive skill sets. Players will complete exercises, activities, and competitive games that are age appropriate and structured to give young athletes the tools to improve their agility, ball handling, throwing, and catching skills. Coaches will work both individually and in group settings to increase campers confidence and knowledge of the game in a fun, active learning environment. Campers will have the opportunity to compete against one another in drills and games. Camp will also feature an exciting football skills combine competition where campers can compete to see who is the most accurate passer, has the strongest arm, and is the fastest 40-yard dasher. The last day will feature a fun scrimmage for all players. Kung Fu Camp: Martial ArtsJuly 22 26 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising K5 5 $130 Coaches: Downtown Martial Arts Instructor, Sifu Jason Korol and assistants A dynamic camp teaching the techniques every karate kid needs to know! Beginner and experienced martial artists alike will benefit from this camp where they will learn the most effective self-defense tools and a black belt mind-set. Campers will also learn self-control and safety skills as they improve their kung fu moves. LacrosseJune 10 14 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Rising K5 5 $130 Coaches: Shane LeCroy, Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach, and Excell Sports staff Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the south and this camp is for both novice players and those with some experience. Campers will learn the fundamentals of the game to include throwing, catching, stick handling, ground balls, how to shoot, and the basic rules of the game with positions. Participants should bring a stick, but helmets are optional. Tennis balls will be used for many drills and there will be minimal contact while playing. Dont miss the excitement of this trendy sport! Little Kids TennisJune 17 21 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising K4 1 $130 Coaches: Laura Huguley, CCES Primer Teacher and tennis player Using proven methods to teach tennis to our youngest players, beginners will hone their tennis skills in this fun, skill-driven camp. The equipment used will cater to younger players, with balls designed for slower speeds and rackets made for smaller hands. The court space used will also be adjusted so campers learn the basics of tennis in an environment adapted to their size. Through fun games and technique lessons, participants will develop a love for the game of tennis! All equipment will be provided. Roller Time SkatingJune 17 21 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising K5 5 $130 July 15 19 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising K5 5 $130 Coach: Angela Pitts, Multi-National Champion, USARS & RSA certified coach, Roller Time LLC Come join the fun! Angela Pitts is a Multi-National Champion and certified USARS and RSA coach in freestyle, dance, and figures. Mrs. Pitts has more than 15 years of experience in teaching all levels. Roller Time instructors teach campers how to balance, skate forward and backward, fall and recover, toe stop, and more. Campers will also strengthen their self-esteem and improve gross motor skills. On Friday, parents are invited to attend a student performance. Please indicate shoe size on the registration form. Soccer CampJune 17 21 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising K5 5 $130 Coaches: Trey Skaggs, CCES Head JV Girls Soccer Coach, Michael Brearley, CCES Head JV Boys Soccer Coach Cavalier Soccer Camp is co-ed and designed for recreational players. The focus will be on basic skills and tactics necessary to succeed in the game of soccer. The camp will incorporate many games and contests to allow campers to practice these skills in a learning environment that offers fun and competition. Players will be evaluated and given individual feedback on how they can continue to improve as players. The camp will end each day with small-sided matches. Sports SamplerJuly 15 19 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising 1 5 $130 Coach: Gary Guth, CCES Lower School Physical Education Teacher Not sure what sport is best? Then join this exciting sports smorgasbord camp that lets campers participate in a variety of sports, including basketball, tennis, volleyball, frisbee golf, lacrosse (soft-crosse non-contact), soccer, and gym games. Each day will consist of multiple sports activities. Participants are welcome to bring their own equipment and balls if they would like. Tennis Anyone?June 24 28 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising 2 5 $130 Coach: Laura Huguley, CCES Primer Teacher and tennis player Come join us for a wonderful week of tennis! Great for beginners and lower intermediates who want to learn the basics. Campers will learn skills such as serving, forehand, backhand, footwork, and hitting high and low. The fundamentals of scoring and match play will also be discussed, with the final day ending in a mini-tournament. This is a camp you wont want to miss! The Best of PE SportsJune 10 14 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Rising 2 5 $130 Coaches:Eric Guth, CCES Lower School Physical Education Teacher, and Gary Guth, CCES Lower School Physical Education Teacher Calling all PE fanatics! Join this awesome week of PE games and activities using all the cool equipment kids love! Campers will spend the week playing everyones favorite PE games. Dont miss out on popcorn, sink the ship, parachute activities, scooter fun, and a CCES favorite jolleyball! Whether they play inside or outside, participants will work up a sweat while having a blast. TumblingJune 10 14 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Rising K4 2 $130 Coach: Jessica Cavan, CCES Substitute Teacher and former gymnast Rolls, cart-wheels, hand stands, and back bends! Budding gymnasts will love creating floor routines and perfecting their moves in this beginner class. Campers will have a blast learning rhythmic gymnastic moves, along with basic floor exercise maneuvers. Ultimate RecessJune 17 21 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Rising K5 3 $130 Coach: Ashlee Wagner, Head CCES JV Girls Softball Coach Everyone loves recess! Join the games and fun of playing recess games all afternoon! Campers will play team games and individual games where fun and sportsmanship are the main goals. Kid favorites like capture the flag, scooter hockey, kickball, and noodle tag will be enjoyed as campers rule the campus both indoors and out on the fields. Volleyball Mini-CavsJune 24 28 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Rising 2 5 $130 Coaches: Andrew Dale, CCES JV Volleyball Coach, and Shane LeCroy, CCES Varsity Volleyball Coach Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in the world and campers will learn all the moves during this camp! Mini-Cavs is designed for the young beginner and will teach techniques, offense skills, and defense skills, along with strategy and scoring rules. Campers will practice a variety of skills drills and play in matches to build technique and confidence throughout the week. Volleyball Intermediate SkillsJuly 8 12 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Rising 6 8 $130 Coach: Shane LeCroy, CCES Head Volleyball Coach Campers in the intermediate volleyball camp can be experienced or beginners, but should know the general rules of the game. Basic skills, along with more advanced strategies and game play, will be taught. Camp will be a blast with skill drills and matches designed for those who want to play competitively. Wrestling CampJuly 15 19 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Rising 1 10 $130 Coaches: Mike Frye, CCES Varsity Wrestling Coach and Greenville County School Teacher, and Drew Brown, CCES JV Wrestling Coach The wrestling summer camp is designed to provide wrestling skills and techniques in a fun-filled, strong learning environment. Campers will be instructed on fundamental moves, pinning combinations, defense, sportsmanship, and progress to more advanced moves as they accelerate their skills. Each day will focus on a different skill so campers can practice fundamentals and then expand on what they already know. On Friday, there will be a mock tournament where campers can put into action what they have learned throughout the week. Parents and friends are invited to join us for this wrestling showdown!
