On Monday, April 3, 2006, four members of the James F. Daniel, Jr. American Legion Post #3 of Greenville visited the Upper School to make a presentation of a beautiful book, Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty, to the Upper School Library. The presentation was held in conjunction with the Academic Honors Assembly of the Upper School.

The American Legion is donating a copy of this book to every high school in Greenville County. The members of the American Legion are on a mission: They hope to educate and inspire students through this moving tribute to the incredibly brave men who distinguished themselves in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, men who were and are the embodiment of the term hero.

CCES thanks the American Legion for this generous contribution to the library.
