Teenage
cool reigned, bobby soxers jived, and grease WAS the word during
the recent weekend run of three exuberant productions of Grease.

This
was the first time CCES produced the fun-filled Jim Jacobs-Warren
Casey musical romp, popular not only for its Pink Ladies, T-Birds,
and spirited fifties groove, but also for such well known tunes
as "Greased Lightnin'," "Summer Nights," and
"We Go Together."

"I
wanted to wait until I had just the right cast for this show. It's
not an easy musical-in fact, there are some challenging harmonies
and rigorous dances, and I wanted to make sure we do it right,"
said Director Molly Hoffman.

And right it was, with eye-popping choreography and great young
voices. The two lead roles were played by junior Anthony
Bucci as greaser Danny Zuko and senior Elizabeth
Finley as sweetheart Sandy Dumbrowski. Supporting roles
included several veterans of the CCES stage: seniors Amanda
Chan as Rizzo, Elizabeth Morrow as Marty,
and Kevin Cobb doubling as Johnny Casino and the
glib (hysterical!) Teen Angel. Other cast members included
seniors Corey Webb as Kenickie, Kate McDonald
as Jan, and Laura Beard as Frenchy; juniors Frank
Farokhi as Sonny, Mike West as Roger,
Taylor Dover as Doody, John Holman
as Eugene, Katie Curtis as Patty, and Sally
Stephenson as Miss Lynch.

CCES
Drama Director David Sims made a guest appearance
as deejay Vince Fontaine. Sims is also a community theater actor
and member of the local rock band, The Lackies. The show's top-notch
pit orchestra featured such professional musicians as guitarist
Steven Watson and saxophonist/clarinetist Jim Mahoney, among
others.
