of Four Scholarships to Give Senior Emily Bridges Full Ride at Furman

Guidance Director Ashley Pittman announced that
senior Emily Bridges has been awarded the James
B. Duke Scholarship at Furman University. The full-tuition scholarship
will pay $34,048 per year for four years, a total of $136,192.
In addition, Bridges has garnered three additional national and
state scholarships: the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, the Robert
C. Byrd Honors Scholarship, and the National Merit Scholarship,
totalling $10,700 annually.
Together, these four scholarships will allow Bridges to attend Furman
University on a full ride.
Bridges
is current Editor-in-Chief of the Cavalier Express. She
is a member of the Spanish Honor Society and has participated on
the Academic Team during all four years at the Upper School. In
grade 9 she was a recipient of both the National Science League
Biology Award and the Cavalier Spirit Award.
A swimmer
on the 2004 CCES varsity team, she has won numerous honors and awards
as a swimmer on the Greenville Country Club swim team, where she
has served as a swim coach for several years. She participated on
the 2004, 2005, and 2006 CCES cross-country teams, serving as team
captain in 2005 and 2006. In 2006 she was named to the All-Region
Cross Country Team. A runner on the 2005 CCES varsity track and
field team, she placed 7th in the 3,200-meter run at the State Meet.
