Policies
& Rules
- All
students are expected to fully comply with Acceptable Use Policy
as outlined in the CCES Handbook. This policy establishes that
the purpose of the CCES educational network is to support research
and education. Some reminders about acceptable use:
- No games may be played on library or drop-in lab computers.
- Students may not change the basic set-up parameters, control
panels, screens, or administrative programs of the computers.
- Students may not download or install software.
- Students are to print materials for educational purposes only
and are to refrain from excessive or unnecessary printing.
- Students may not use log-in names and passwords other than their
own.
- Students should never share their account information with others.
- Students may not enter chat rooms or engage in Instant Messaging
unless specifically
- authorized by a teacher to do so.
- Students may not access inappropriate information, including
pornography and obscene
- materials.
- Books
must be checked out at the circulation desk. Removal of library
materials, including books, magazines, newspapers and videotapes
or DVDs without following established checkout procedures is considered
stealing and will be dealt with as an Honor Code violation.
- No
food or drink, open or unopened, is allowed in the library or
drop-in computer lab.
- Students
are expected to be responsible for their work area. Throw away
trash! Only paper to be
recycled is to be placed in the large bin next to the copier.
- The
balcony area of the library is reserved for use by seniors only.
- The
copy machine is to be used for academic purposes only.
Circulation
- CCES
alumni, students, faculty, parents and staff are granted borrowing
privileges from the Upper School Library. Books may be checked
out at the Circulation Desk and may be kept for one month. Reference
books may not be checked out, but students are urged to make copies
of needed material from them. Audiovisual materials are reserved
for teacher use only.
- Each
borrower is responsible for returning books on time. While CCES
does not assess fines for overdue materials, it is the school's
policy to withhold end-of-year grades of any student who fails
to satisfactorily resolve his account with the library.
- Students
will be notified of overdue library books through notices sent
to the appropriate advisors.
