Episcopal Tradition & Belonging

Our Commitment

CCES is a chapel community spiritually rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We gather weekly in prayer and worship, honoring our Episcopal tradition while valuing multiple perspectives and respecting the religious traditions of others.

As an Episcopal School we are upheld by the Baptismal Covenant which calls us “to strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.” At CCES, we believe that fostering intellectual development and moral growth is most effective within a vibrant and diverse learning community, where close relationships enable us to understand, appreciate, and bridge our differences.

Whether in our classrooms, athletic fields, performance spaces, or in service to others in the community, the values of inclusiveness, compassion, kindness, and integrity are taught, modeled, and instilled across our school life.

As an Episcopal School we are upheld by the Baptismal Covenant which calls us “to strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.”

To this end the Board of Trustees tasked the administration to cultivate an inclusive community where all students, faculty, and staff engage others with mutual respect, embrace and honor differences, and build a sense of belonging for all.  CCES students will have opportunity and access to reach their fullest potential and will develop the skills necessary to eagerly participate and thrive in an increasingly global world through understanding, respecting, and honoring others with different backgrounds, perspectives, and talents.”CCES BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Chapel of the Good Shepherd

CCES Chapel in Spring Time

In September 2005, CCES opened the doors to the newly constructed Chapel of the Good Shepherd. Located in the heart of the Cavalier campus, the chapel rises above the roofs of the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools as a symbol of the centrality of faith and prayer in a Christ Church Episcopal School education.

As an Episcopal Community

We are of service

At CCES, we want our students to realize that they have a responsibility to take care of themselves, others, and the world around them. We provide them with opportunities to give back to the community and to reflect on that experience. Our ultimate goal is to develop students who are engaged and empowered to play their part in changing the world.

We are welcoming

We are a Christian community that welcomes all students of varying faiths to embark on a journey to discover what inspires their minds and hearts. We gather as a community in weekly chapel services and prayer to support and celebrate one another in ways that unite rather than divide.

We are respectful

We encourage students to listen to differing perspectives and respect the hearts and actions of others. We draw on curiosity and critical thinking to deepen learning and strive for justice and equity.
