Welcome to the Arts at CCES

Few events in the life of a school are more exciting than opening a new building, especially an exceptional center for the performing arts.  At the start of 2016, CCES students crossed the stage and filled the classrooms of the Hartness Center for the Performing Arts for the first time.  Within a few months, thousands of audience members enjoyed plays, recitals, speeches, concerts, and so much more in the comfort of this state of the art facility.  The dream of the Hartness Performing Arts Center became a reality through the generosity of faithful alumni, friends, and family who want the best for our students, and we are honored by this support.

The 2018-19 calendar reveals a full slate of guest artists, student performances, gallery showings, and academic events.  In the arts, a talented roster of new teachers joins us in both the Middle and Upper Schools.  They join with our continuing teachers to offer fresh ideas and creativity while guiding our students in discovering and developing their talent.  The arts are an extraordinary educational tool and we are most fortunate to have this well-trained and highly motivated faculty and staff to serve as our students guides.  The arts are an extraordinary educational tool, and we will watch throughout the year the transformative power of the arts as our students enhance self-confidence, strengthen self-discipline, grow intellectually, and, for some, find a lifetime passion.

Our partners in fulfilling the CCES mission of excellence in the arts include our parents and members of our Arts Guild.  Each year these volunteers spend countless hours assisting in every aspect of the arts.  The Hartness Performing Arts Center and the hallways of each of the three schools will be filled with volunteers providing the essential help needed for successful CCES arts experiences. Our Arts Guild stands at the center of all our arts activity and we simply could not offer our students the tremendous range of opportunities without their wonderful leadership.  With my colleagues across the CCES arts programs, I look forward to sharing with you a year of inspiring and enjoyable arts activities.
