Class of 2016 Highlights

  • The Class of 2016 had 7 National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists and 7 National Merit Scholarship Finalists.
  • CCES has produced 194 National Merit Scholarship Finalists since the first graduating class of 1972.
  • 25 members (26%) of the Class of 2016 qualified for the SC Palmetto Fellows Scholarship.*
  • 74% of the Class of 2016 qualified for the SC Palmetto Fellows or Life Scholarships.*
  • 70% of domestic college applicants received substantial merit scholarships.
  • Members of the Class of 2016 were awarded more than 9 million dollars in college scholarships (calculating 4-year values).
  • 84% of the Class of 2016 took at least one AP or IB class.

CCES average composite SAT score is consistently 200-300 points higher than the South Carolina average.

Advanced Placement (AP)

  • 22 AP courses available.
  • In 2016, 164 CCES students took a total of 350 AP exams. 132 test takers (80.5%) achieved a pass rate (score of 3 or higher) compared to a South Carolina pass rate of 58.9% and a global pass rate of 60.2%.
  • In 2016, 100% of students taking Biology, Computer Science, Latin, Spanish Language and Culture, Studio Art and United States History earned a 3 or better.

International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB)

  • 35 IB courses available
  • Since 2001, IB Diplomas have been awarded to 91% of the 305 candidates pursuing the diploma.
  • The IB diploma pass rate at CCES for 2016 was 96%. This compares to the recent world pass rate of 79%, U.S. pass rate of 68% and SC pass rate of 66%.
  • In 2016, the average number of points earned by CCES students receiving the diploma was 32; this compares to the typical world average of 29-30 points.
  • The average grade obtained by 2016 CCES candidates who received the diploma was 5.12 (1-7 scale).

Athletics

  • 45 varsity, junior varsity, and middle school teams; 25 of these are varsity teams
  • Over 80% of students in grades 7 -12 participate on at least one athletic team
  • 91 state championships since 1975; 58 state championships since 2000
  • The #1 ranked 1A athletic program in SC for 22 of the last 25 years
  • CCES consistently produces student athletes who receive athletic scholarships each year.
  • Since 2007, over 40 CCES graduates have continued their athletic careers in college, including 24 at the Division I level.
