Mission Skills Assessment

The Middle School is pleased to have joined about 70 other independent schools as a participant in the Mission Skills Assessment (MSA) developed by INDEX (Independent School Data Exchange) and ETS (Educational Testing Service).

Research has shown that non-cognitive skills and attributes are just as important as cognitive skills in determining academic and life success. INDEX and ETS have developed the MSA based on six character traits: Teamwork, Creativity, Ethics, Resilience, Curiosity, and time management.

Middle school students in grades 6, 7, and 8 participate in this assessment each year, and the school uses the data to take part in a dialogue and sharing network among schools to identify how to improve teaching these essential skills.
