Academics

Technology

Instructional technology is more than just a computer lab. At CCES, technology plays a role in the classroom, daily.

Technology is used to engage students. CCES students are more than consumers of digital media; they are producers of digital content. Students learn the skills they need to utilize 21st century tools efficiently and safely. Parents stay connected and informed 24 hours a day.

Real-World Skills

Technology training, online safety, and ethical use of digital media are integrated into each division’s curriculum. Lower School students are introduced to online research, productivity programs, file management, and the creation of multimedia projects. Middle School students explore graphic design software, basic programming and robotics, 3D modeling and printing, and app design. The Upper School offers courses in digital media, computer science, mobile application development, and web design.

Tools for 21st Century Learning

Academic classrooms at CCES are well-equipped with the latest technology tools. Nearly every classroom is furnished with a wireless microphone system to limit outside auditory distractions and flat panel monitors or projection equipment for digital presentations. Every student in grade 6 through 8 has a school-issued Chromebook.  A one to one environment is designed to help enhance student learning and enrich each individual student’s overall educational experience.

Placing this technology into student's hands provides:
  • access to textbooks and thousands of digital books
  • an organized note-taking platform
  • an online research tool
  • a platform to facilitate individual and group work
  • access to a learning management system for managing homework, class assignments, quizzes and tests
  • a platform for video or audio copies of lectures
  • 24 hour access to CCES library’s academic digital resources to build digital literacy skills
  • a tool to create digital content

Learning Management

All students have Schoology accounts. Schoology is a true learning management system (LMS).  It is a secure, virtual learning environment used in P-12 schools as well as colleges and universities.  It allows students to create, manage, and share academic content.  It is, in many respects, a digital representation of what happens in class. The cloud-based platform provides tools needed to extend learning outside of classroom walls. A cloud-based LMS like Schoology is vitally important for digital workflow management.

Keeping You Connected

At CCES, we recognize that an engaged, connected community is key to a successful experience. Parents can monitor their child’s progress 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through Schoology, our learning management system. School-wide e-blasts and the Online Cavalier Community keep families informed regarding upcoming events and school news. In the event of an emergency or school closing, the Blackboard Connect system instantly sends important messages to the entire school community via email, text message, and voicemail.

A CCES education prepares students to think deeply, act responsibly, live vigorously, believe faithfully, lead resolutely, and create imaginatively.
