Winter Athletic Signing Day

Christ Church Episcopal School has three athletes whose success we celebrated today, February 7th, during a signing ceremony with school officials, family, and friends.
 
The students who signed are as follows:
Cliff Gandis - Football at Georgia Institute of Technology
David Garrett - Soccer at Brevard College
Jacobe Putman - Football at Limestone College
 
Athletic Director Molly Miller thanked coaches and administration, families, and friends for their support of the athletes and had the following commentary on each individual:
 
“Cliff Gandis is a 13 year vet at Christ Church Episcopal School, a member of our student council, and a three sport athlete for the Cavaliers.  He is described by his teachers as an enthusiastic learner, dedicated to his studies, responsible, and a student that truly embodies school spirit.  One teacher even comments that he is the epitome of a student-athlete: he is confident but not arrogant and studious without being obsessed with academic perfection.  A great model for future Cavaliers to follow.  Another teacher comments that his willingness to take time with Lower School students provides them with a great role model and shows how our school can be a true family through all the divisions.  On the playing fields, Cliff matches his reputation in the classroom.  All three coaches note his training habits and his work ethic.  Former soccer coach, David Wilcox notes that Cliff has been an invaluable member of the soccer program since the 9th grade and is a remarkable leader.  On the court, Coach Butler commends his athletic IQ and his distinct skill of helping his teammates.  Coach Frost is not surprised by Cliff’s success on the field and noted that his work ethic provided a positive example for others on the football team this year. 
 
David Garrett is a 13 year vet at Christ Church, a three sport athlete, and a member of our band.  His teachers describe him as mature, confident, and a student with a great attitude.  David works hard in the classroom and is very conscientious.  Even his second grade teacher recalls David as an extremely hard worker and one she could always count on to do the right thing.  David’s basketball coach, John Butler, notes his commitment to his team, whether it be practices, workouts, strength and conditioning, or off-season workouts— he shows up, works hard, and never complains.  His former soccer coach, David Wilcox, sums it up best and I quote, ‘David loves soccer, evidenced by the way he plays and trains, and is the consummate team player - always enjoying team accomplishments more than individual achievements.  David has the kind of positive attitude that every coach loves to have on the team.’ 
 
Jacobe Putman joined the Cavalier family in the 8th grade, he is member of our band and serves as a Student Ambassador.  One teacher notes that Jacobe is one of the most positive and upbeat students.  Another comments that besides Limestone gaining an athletic talent, they are truly getting a nice guy.  He goes on to say how we will feel his absence at CCES next year.  A sentiment many of us share.  As a two-sport athlete for the Cavaliers, Jacobe has excelled in football and basketball. Coach Butler describes as a passionate player and one who would do anything for his team.  His energy is contagious.  Coach Frost notes his work ethic and his role as a Captain for this year’s Football team helped him grow not only as a model on the field but one of a servant leader to his team.”
 
The following athletes previously committed and participated in earlier signings;
Maxine Blech - cross country and track at Lafayette College
Lawren Cook - basketball at Wofford College
Jordan Haywood - track at Elon University
Noah Matricciani - fencing at Stanford University
Harry Reynolds - golf at Indiana University
