2018 Underclassmen Awards Ceremony

by Jamie Bryant, Director of Marketing & PR
During the May 23rd Underclassmen Awards Ceremony, which took place in the Rooke Theater, numerous underclassmen were recognized and rewarded for what Headmaster Dr. Leonard Kupersmith referred to as their “consistent academic achievement and service to others. “Strong minds and sentient hearts produce problem solvers and service givers,” he remarked.Congratulations to the honorees, their mentors who have inspired them, their classmates who sustain a culture that thinks academic accomplishment is desirable, and to their parents who have chosen wisely to invest their faith in our superb school.”

Kevin Connaughton ’19 composed an original prelude, performed by himself and Cindy Xu ‘20, as students, parents, and faculty assembled. Upper School Director Wes Clarke gave his introductory remarks saying, “At a school like CCES, growth, perseverance, intellectual curiosity, industry, and academic distinction are admired and honored.

Another delightful musical selection was performed by Kevin Connaughton ‘19, and Adelaide Vergnolle ‘19. Kevin composed the music and wrote the lyrics, as part of a larger musical he is currently creating. The tile is “I See Birds”, and is a love song between two of the characters.
