Junior Catherine Shoffner Selected as Member of the Inaugural SCHSL's Student Advisory Council
Catherine Shoffner is a junior at CCES and was selected this past fall to be a member of the inaugural South Carolina High School League’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). The SAAC was created with the goal of involving student-athletes in the work of promoting sportsmanship, leadership, and service, in and through high school athletics. Students had to apply for consideration and Catherine was one of 15 selected from across the entire state. Catherine states she made the decision to apply “because I wanted to make sure the voices of this community and the voices of the other class AA schools in South Carolina were fairly represented.”
Catherine’s additional responsibilities include organizing a community service project, serving at SCHSL sports tournaments (she worked the 4A Football State Championship Game in December), and collaborating with other students on the SAAC to “make a positive impact on the SCHSL through idea proposals and feedback from our communities.”
While Catherine was honored to have been selected for the SAAC as there were so many other qualified applicants, she believes the extra support she had from the CCES Athletic Department helped to set her apart. She considers it a privilege to have been “chosen to be the voice for so many other talented athletes.”
CCES is so proud of Catherine, all the hard work she is doing as a part of the SCHSL’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council, and the way she represents our school community so well!
