Head Of School Search | February Update

Cary Weekes
February 28, 2019

Dear CCES Community,

I hope you are all doing well and looking forward to a happy, restful winter break.  Before you go, I wanted to offer a quick update on the Head of School Search.

As you may recall, the consultants from Spencer Stuart spent two days on campus in January learning about CCES and gaining input on what we are looking for in our next Head of School.  For those who couldn’t join us on campus, a community-wide survey was circulated.  After receiving your valuable input through these measures, the Search Committee published a position specification for the next Head of CCES in late January, which can be found on our HOS Search website if you’d like to reference it.

Since that point, our consultants have been hard at work building a prospective candidate pool of highly qualified individuals for consideration of the Search Committee.  These candidates are mainly cultivated from their professional networks, but also from those who respond to the job listing or respond to a blast sent to Spencer Stuart’s database.  We are in frequent contact at this point; the consultants are providing us with feedback from conversations they are having with prospects, answering questions about them, and continuing to build the pool.  There is still much work to be done and many steps to take between now and appointing a new head, but the Committee is highly enthusiastic about the caliber of candidates currently interested in the position.

As you remember with the Candidate Centric search model Spencer Stuart uses, confidentiality of the candidates is of utmost importance between now and the time the Board of Trustees makes an appointment.  So while I can’t share much more about the candidate pool than I already have here, I can report that the process is sound and we are on track for an appointment this summer (though, there could be a need that arises further along in the process to push the decision to the fall).  The committee is encouraged by the positive momentum and feel Spencer Stuart was certainly the right choice to partner with in this effort based on what we have seen thus far.

Thank you all so much for your support and continued engagement in this process.  As always, I am available for any questions you may have.  I wish everyone safe travels on their winter break adventures and look forward to seeing you all when we return.

Yours very truly,

Cary H. Weekes
