Pump it Up with Reed Halvorson and Pump Boys at Mill Town Players!

by Jamie Bryant, Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications

The talent of our faculty and the connections formed at CCES never cease to amaze me. Upper School Theater Teacher Reed Halvorson is currently directing a show called Pump Boys and Dinettes, and it just so happens that former CCES Theater Teacher and Director of the Arts, and current CCES Parent David Sims, is playing bass in the band as the character “Eddie”.

What chance did these two most recent theater teachers stand against kismet? Mill Town Players is an extraordinary community theater in Pelzer, whose purpose is to entertain, inspire, and enrich our community by providing quality and affordable live theater. They are known to produce remarkable shows and educational programs, and are a valuable member of the South Carolina arts community.

Pump Boys and Dinettes opens next Friday. In this crowd-pleasing country rock music revue, the “Pump Boys” sell high octane on Highway 57 in Grand Ole Opry country and the “Dinettes,” Prudie and Rhetta Cupp, run the Double Cupp diner next door. Together they fashion an evening of country rock songs that received unanimous raves on and off-Broadway. With heartbreak and hilarity, they perform on guitars, piano, bass and, yes, kitchen utensils.
