KAILEE MORGAN AND ALEC DIBATTISTA SIGN TO PLAY COLLEGIATE ATHLETICS
Christ Church Episcopal School celebrated the successes of two of our senior athletes today, April 17th, during a signing ceremony. Family, friends, and school officials gathered to watch Alec DiBattista and Kailee Morgan sign letters of intent. Alec will be swimming at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA and Kailee will be swimming at Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, TN.
Athletic Director Molly Miller thanked family, coaches, administration, teachers, friends and teammates for their support both in the water and in the classroom as they have helped to shape Alec and Kailee into the students, athletes and people they are today. Molly expanded on each individual, sharing quotes from both teachers and coaches.
Alec DiBattista started at Christ Church in 10th grade and has made a great impact during his time here, both as a student and as an athlete. His teachers describe him as “bright, passionate and one with resolute focus. He is noted for demonstrating a growth mindset, never giving up when faced with difficulty, but rather pushing through to improve.” One teacher noted: “Alec is a calm surprise. He contributes to discussion in a way that shows a high level of engagement with material.” Another teacher commented: “He makes sophisticated connections between his own life and the content. He is a diligent student who takes responsibility for his work, and brings a sense of humor and wit to class discussions.”
Molly went on to share the words of Coach Matt Jacobssen who had the following to say about Alec: “A competitor through and through, Alec has been the emotional heart of our team as we’ve climbed our way to a series of top 5 team finishes at the state meet. Alec is extremely versatile – a great breaststroker and IMer as well as an impressive sprint and mid-distance freestyler. We could always rely on Alec to fight and give his best and will miss his leadership.”
Kailee Morgan is a 13-year vet, having attending Christ Church since Primer. In addition to being a member of the swim team, Kailee is also a member of the Varsity Soccer team. Teachers describe Kailee as “a student that brings passion and spunk to everything she does. She is one that embraces all experiences and does not shy away from new challenges.” One teacher commented: “Kailee has many talents and a very active mind. She is high energy with an ability to intensely focus, which is rare.” Another teacher noted: “She has the significant life skill of not taking herself too seriously while, at the same time, beginning to understand that she has a lot to offer the world.”
Molly continued with Coach Jacobssen’s thoughts on Kailee, including her accomplishments from her time here at CCES: Kailee is a supremely talented swimmer with a knack for stepping up in big moments. She is a 2-time individual state champion – winning the 100 breaststroke as a junior and a senior, and has been on several state championship relay teams during her 6 years swimming at CCES. While a breaststroke specialist, she’s defined herself as a formidable IM swimmer as well as a sprint freestyler. We’ll miss Kailee’s leadership both in and out of the water.”
Congratulations to Alec and Kailee on all of their accomplishments at Christ Church and all those to come in this next chapter! While they will soon be competing for different teams, they will always be Cavaliers to us! Go Cavs!
