2019 Underclassmen Awards Ceremony
During the 2019 Underclassmen Awards Ceremony, which took place on May 22nd in the Rooke Theater of the Hartness Performing Arts Center, numerous underclassmen were recognized and rewarded for what Headmaster Dr. Leonard Kupersmith referred to as “character and academic achievement in our school culture.”
“Today we will recognize students who keep their heads amidst stress and soar,” he said. “Many who we celebrate overcame obstacles. CCES cultivates virtue as vigorously as it does virtuoso performance.”
Students, faculty members, and parents assembled during a beautiful musical performance by Cindy Xu and Jane Yang. Upper School Director Wes Clarke gave his introductory remarks saying, “At a school like CCES, growth, generosity, intellectual curiosity, industry, and inclusivity are admired and honored.”
The following award winners were selected through the collaborative deliberation of the Upper School faculty.
