Melanie Gordon Selected as a University of Chicago Outstanding Educator

by Jamie Bryant, Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications
Melanie C. Gordon, Diversity and Inclusion Director and Upper School Religion and Ethics Instructor, recently received some University of Chicago swag!

No, she is not going back to add another degree to her repertoire, she was selected as a University of Chicago Outstanding Educator!  Ms. Gordon was nominated for the honor by former student, Marissa Powe, CCES Class of 2020, who is now a freshman at the University of Chicago where she also plays Women’s Basketball.

A teacher's impact on student learning can last well beyond school and into adult life.  We all have interests and hobbies that started back in class, because of that one teacher.  The University of Chicago created the Outstanding Educator Award to honor such teachers, teachers who challenge and inspire their students to develop their learning skills inside and outside the classroom.

The prestigious award has been given for over 3 decades.  Along with the nomination, students provide a short written submission explaining how the teacher has helped them in their journey of intellectual growth.

CCES is thrilled to celebrate Ms. Gordon and her achievements!
