Ana Pelham ’21 Recognized with National Art Award
Congratulations to Ana Pelham, CCES Class of 2021, on being awarded a national art award through the Scholastics Art and Writing Competition, the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Students in grades 7–12 (ages 13 and up) can apply in 28 categories of art and writing. The competition starts at the regional level. Upon winning a regional award (Ana won the Gold Key Award) students are entered to compete at a national level against high school scholars across the Unites States.
The photograph Ana took is named, “Divided”. Although there are many different ways to interpret the image, “it somewhat symbolizes the division between race through black and white,” Ana states, “and how our country is rather divided.” The photograph was taken in West Greenville, SC.
National Medalists are honored with a star-studded ceremony in New York City, regional, national, and traveling Art.Write.Now. exhibitions showcasing their work, and are eligible for scholarships of up to $10,000! Congratulations, Ana!
