Students Lead the Way: Middle School Clubs

 

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in student-led clubs in community with one another.  Each semester, students have the chance to create clubs and apply as leaders.  Student-led club topics span a range of interests.  The following are some examples of student-led clubs currently offered in the CCES Middle School:

Student-led clubs provide a space for students to engage with new hobbies and build new skills.  

Case in point, Mr. Greco, Middle School Dean of Students, has been talking stock market with Krish Patel for two years.  “We talked about launching a stock market game at school, but since clubs came back, we launched Finance Club,” he said.  The club meets and plays a stock market game in which each student starts with a "portfolio" of $100,000 and can invest it however they choose.  Each week, they talk about their investments, news in the market, and Mr. Greco, a former 12th grade Economics teacher, teaches a "word of the week"— anything from defining capitalism to long-term capital gains.  There are anywhere from 15-20 students at a meeting.  That’s quite the crowd!

 

Essentially, clubs encourage students to take leadership roles within our community and school.  We are incredibly proud of these students for their initiative, resourcefulness, and drive!
