Jordan Butler '23 Commits to the University of Missouri

Kim Gendron, Social Media Coordinator

Jordan Butler '23
had the decision of where to play college basketball narrowed down to three schools: Auburn University, the University of Missouri, and the University of South Carolina. (He had also received offers from the University of Alabama, Clemson University, Florida State University, University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech!) His announcement was scheduled for Wednesday, October 5 at 3:30 pm in McCall Field House. He was joined by his parents, younger brother Josh Butler '28 (older brother John Butler Jr. '21 called in via FaceTime), Athletic Director, Molly Miller, local media outlets, and members of the CCES student body to announce his commitment.

Prior to announcing his decision, Jordan gave a long list of thank you’s, starting with God, for all the blessings and opportunities He has provided. Jordan went on to thank his family - dad, Coach John Butler, for pushing him to be a better player and person, and mom, Casie Butler, for always providing support and encouragement - as well as other influential coaches and mentors that have helped him get to where he is today.

“I would like to thank my parents for all the sacrifices they've made for me,” Jordan said, "to make me the person that I am today."

In the end, after much thought and prayer, he went with his gut and chose the school that he believes will develop him as a player and give him the best opportunities to accomplish his goals. He said when he made his decision, he felt a sense of peace "immediately." Jordan took off his sweatshirt to reveal his Mizzou t-shirt and placed a Tigers hat on his head, announcing his commitment to play for the University of Missouri and Coach Dennis Gates.
