The Middle School Experience

The Middle School years are an important time in a child’s development. Christ Church Episcopal School’s Middle School serves students in Grades 5-8. Balancing the Lower School commitment to nurturing the whole child and the Upper School commitment to a departmentalized, academically motivated approach, the Middle School serves as a transition between the two divisions. The CCES Middle School provides a safe and nurturing environment where students are actively engaged in their classes, enjoy time with their classmates, and develop skills that will help propel them forward in the years to come.

In order to provide the greatest opportunity for learning to take place, our teachers consistently seek out the best ways to reach every student. Teachers in the middle school focus on building relationships and are responsive to the individualized needs of each student. In addition, our staff have a deep understanding of the unique developmental physical, emotional, and social behaviors associated with children in this age group.

The Middle School understands the importance of creating an environment in which each student can develop spiritually, intellectually, creatively, socially, and physically. Faculty serve as advisors and role models in each of these areas. Through commitment to our Episcopal identity, it is our goal for everyone in our community to feel a sense of belonging. Pillars of Character, Community, Excellence and Service are explicitly taught through The Cavalier Way and embedded in daily classroom practices and CavTime activities.

When experiencing the Middle School at CCES students and families will see a balance of academic rigor, students being encouraged to foster a growth mindset, and an individualized approach to social/emotional growth. We look forward to seeing our students develop and grow throughout their middle school years.
