WELCOME TO SUMMER ENCOUNTERS, CAMPS FOR CURIOUS KIDS!

As the Director of Auxiliary Programs, it is my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to CCES Summer Encounters Camps 2024!  Summer Encounters is a day camp program in Greenville, SC with a comprehensive and exciting collection of summer camp programs that provide meaningful opportunities for every camper in (rising) grades K4 to 12. With a variety of day camp activities, extended stay options, and schedules offered,it’s easier than ever to LEAVE THE SUMMER TO US!

This year, our greatest desire is to continue bringing you quality, enriching and awesome camps for your children. You and your child will be able to choose from 250 camps, several of those being brand new to Summer Encounters. While we always love to bring back our camp favorites like Digging for Dinosaurs, Cake Decorating, Nerf Battles, Dodgeball and American Girl Doll camps, we are super excited to introduce our new camps. Be sure to check out camps like Dude Perfect camp, Star Wars Jedi Academy, Arena Football, Shark Week, Celebrity Portraits, Rowdy Recess, Embrace Your Unique Personality,  and so much more! We worked hard to increase our number of offerings for our Middle School aged campers like Madden Masters, Bull vs. Bear and TaylorNation (for all our Swifties out there) and to also bring new opportunities for the loyal campers who attend Summer Encounters Camps year after year. In addition, you’ll notice some great offerings for High School aged students to enhance their academic skills like SAT Crash Course, Anthropology, and Standardized Test Prep and even assist with the college application processes.

We have been working diligently this spring meeting with our Summer Encounters teachers, training our over 60 high school counselors, and working with our college interns to ensure that the summer of 2024 is our best summer yet!  If you have any questions about content, assistance with registration, or inquire about the best summer camp selections for your family, we invite you to contact our team at summer@cces.org.

Meet the Team

    • Traci Weldie

Hi! I am Traci and as the Director of Auxiliary Programs I stay busy all year round. I have been at CCES since 2014 and have six children, my youngest two having just graduated from CCES in May! In my free time, I enjoy walking my corgi, reading on the back porch or spending time with my family. “A little love and attention can go a long way…too bad more people don’t realize that.”

    • Andrew Wheaton

Hi everyone! My name is Andrew Wheaton and I'm very excited to start my first year with the Summer Encounters staff! I began working at CCES this past October as a late stay teacher and I am lucky to be part of such a great community. When I'm not chasing around my three daughters or playing with our two dogs, you can find me rooting on the LSU Tigers or playing video games! “Laissez les bons temps rouler.” (“Let the good times roll.”)

    • Aileen Mahoney

Hi! I am Aileen Mahoney, Auxiliary Programs Operations Coordinator. I have spent many summers as an assistant camp director and I am excited to join the Summer Encounters team this year! I have a teaching background, five young boys, and my family and I are new to the Greenville area. I enjoy an active lifestyle and embrace any opportunity to try something new. "Live in the sunshine. Swim in the sea. Drink in the wild air."

    • Evan Mahoney

Hello! My name is Evan and I am excited to join the Summer Encounters team this year. I am also one of two CCES Lower School Health & PE teachers. I love being part of an organization, like this one, that passionately strives to develop the whole child! I have an amazing family with five young, energetic boys and enjoy getting outside and being active! “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

    • Samantha Pritchard

Hi! I'm Samantha Pritchard and I am the Auxiliary Programs Coordinator. I started at CCES as a Late Stay Assistant in 2020 and came on full-time in the fall of 2021. I have lived in Greenville, SC since the 3rd grade and graduated in 2020 from Anderson University. Outside of work, you can find me reading or working on my latest craft project. "Clear expectations. Clear procedures. Clear descriptions."

    • Isabel Weldie

Hey there! I’m Isabel and I am thrilled to join the Summer Encounters team this year! I am a recent graduate of Anderson University and am heading into my first year of being a Special Education teacher. In my free time I make coffee in a local coffee shop, play and listen to lots of music, and take my dog on long walks. “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
