The James K. Rumrill Parent of Alumni Service Award Awarded to Edgar Norris

by Jamie Bryant, Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications
Initiated by the Golden Cavaliers, the James K. Rumrill Award, named for the Headmaster Emeritus who granted the Golden Cavaliers its initial charter in 1993, is presented to honor parents of alumni who have demonstrated exemplary loyalty and commitment to the School through their dedicated service and philanthropic support. Their commitment continues for a period of three or more years after his/her last child has graduated from CCES. This award was first presented on October 3, 2013 to Mrs. Langhorne Webster.

On November 14, 2018, the award was presented to Edgar Norris, father of four alumni and a dedicated parent, trustee, and philanthropist to CCES.

Elizabeth Jarrett began the luncheon with a blessing, followed by Headmaster Dr. Kupersmith’s introductory remarks, reminding everyone the reverence CCES has for its alumni. “A school measures its worth by its alumni,” he stated. “They are the product of the care and feeding given by the school, the result of our nourishing their minds, hearts, and spirits. Our alumni are our ambassadors into the world. Colleges and universities factor in the performance of our alumni at their campuses when they review CCES applicants for admission. Our alumni carry their academic parentage with them into businesses, civic organizations, and neighborhoods. They often pass on their enthusiasm about their “alma mater” to the children that they nourish as parents.”

Reggie Titmas, the Golden Cavaliers’ chair, then introduced the alumna speaker, the multi-talented and now accomplished and admired CCES Primer teacher, Elizabeth Williams.

Congratulations and sincere thanks to Mr. Norris for his exemplary service to CCES and philanthropic support of the school.
