Golden Cavaliers Tour Wetlands Laboratory

by Lillian Monroe ’93 Database Manager
Members of the Golden Cavaliers, a group of former faculty and staff, joined 5th Grade Science teacher Gina Varat for lunch and a tour of the Wetlands Laboratory on Thursday, November 7. The group’s interest in the Wetlands was sparked two years ago when Gina spoke about plans for the Wetlands Classroom at a monthly Golden Cavaliers lunch.

During their lunch with Gina on the 7th, they discussed how the wetlands are being used, a field guide that is underway that the students have created, 6th grade water testing, and the all-school chapel that takes place each year in the wetlands.  Throughout their tour, Gina pointed out some of the wildlife that inhabits the wetlands.

The group thoroughly enjoyed the visit.  Page Scovil Hoyle, former Christian Education teacher said,"It's always such a pleasure to visit CCES and catch a glimpse of its amazing growth!"

"It was WONDERFUL," commented Dan Harris, former Upper School Graphic Arts teacher.  "The wetlands is such an exciting addition to the campus and curriculum."
