Parker Davis ’23 Named Epiphany Scholar

Kim Gendron, Social Media Coordinator

At the annual Christ Church Episcopal School Epiphany Chapel service, held Thursday, January 19, Parker Davis ’23 was named this year’s Epiphany Scholar. The Epiphany Scholarship was established in 1991 and is advanced by the Rector of Christ Church Episcopal to honor a student who exemplifies a commitment to Christian values through worship, sensitivity, and outreach to others as well as a personal manifestation of love of God and God’s people in one’s daily life at school, at church, and within the community. Jennie Kappel, US Spanish Instructor, introduced Parker as the recipient, noting “There is no doubt that this year’s Epiphany Scholar embodies all these qualities.”

Kappel recalls meeting Parker for the first time, three years ago as a freshman in Advanced Spanish II, and says, “I knew immediately that this student would stand out from the rest with her excellent character, driving force, willingness to always step up, and kindness towards others.” Jennie describes having Parker in Honors Spanish IV and the integral role she played in supporting, encouraging, and including others in their class “familia.”

Kappel says, “And this is what life is about for Parker, a family. Her commitment, positive presence in the classroom, selfless acts of service, and strong sense of responsibility to serve others is who she is. Whether she volunteers to tutor Spanish students during E-period, organizes basketball team lunches, brings food for Spanish Club meetings, or even brings me a cake for my birthday, she goes out of her way to build community and show others how much she cares for them.”

Parker’s close friend Marleigh O’Hanlan ’23 spoke on their friendship over the years and having a front row seat to watching how Parker leads, loves, and fully embraces in all aspects of life. Marleigh closed by sharing, “I am inspired by how Parker constantly strives to better herself while also maintaining a lighthearted sense of joy. Parker humbly carries the burdens of others and uplifts them with her caring personality, fulfilling the law of Christ [Galatians 6:2] as she strives to support others.”

Congratulations to Parker Davis, our 2023 Epiphany Scholar! We are so thankful for all you have brought to the CCES community.
