Dashun Reeder '24 Signs Letter of Intent to Play DI Football

Kim Gendron, Social Media Coordinator

Christ Church Episcopal School celebrated the success of senior Dashun Reeder this morning, December 20, during a signing ceremony. Family, teammates, coaches, and school officials gathered in Rooke Theater to watch Dashun sign his letter of intent to play football at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Director of Athletics, Molly Miller, welcomed the family, coaches, administration, teachers, friends, and teammates and thanked them for their support of Dashun’s athletic and academic endeavors. Miller went on to expand on Dashun, sharing thoughts from his teachers and coaches.

Teachers describe Dashun as a respectful, ambitious, and humble student. While he has certainly been a leader on the field, he also leads in the classroom – taking initiative during discussions, asking great questions, and offering articulate responses. He “elevates” every class he is a part of and is “the type of student that all teachers wish they could have in their classes.”

Varsity Football Head Coach, Quin Hatfield, describes Reeder as a “playmaker, game-changer, and an incredible and explosive athlete.” Dashun will leave CCES a two-time State Champion, the All-time Leading Rusher in CCES Football history, the 2022 Region Player of the Year, and a 2023 NC/SC Shrine Bowl Participant.

However, even with Dashun’s long list of accomplishments from his high school football career, Hatfield says, “The thing that sticks out the most about Dashun is the fact that he is dependable. He will show up, make things happen, and ultimately deliver the big play.” Hatfield points out that after Dashun made his verbal commitment to Northwestern this summer, the head coach has changed. But Dashun did not hesitate - he “held true to his commitment and did not waver.”

Hatfield listed a couple of his favorite plays from Dashun over the years – the go-ahead touchdown vs. St. Joseph’s in the 2022 Upper State Finals and his “dominating” 2nd half performance vs. Southside Christian to clinch the Region Championship and #1 seed this year. While many will only see the performances on the field during the season, Hatfield points to Dashun’s dedication in the offseason, not missing a single summer workout over the past two seasons.

Hatfield says, “Dashun can be counted on as a teammate, as a student, as a friend, and as a competitor. This character trait is what ultimately makes him a winner. He left a lasting mark on our football program and will now bring the same winning attitude and impact to Big 10 football. The Wildcats are getting a champion!”

Congratulations to Dashun for all of his accomplishments, both athletically and academically. CCES will always be cheering for you and we look forward to witnessing all the things to come in this next chapters. Go Cavs and go Wildcats!
